I just can't get enough.
1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?
Started a journal here. I never thought I'd want to/be able to do an online journal.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Yes and probably.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Friends of Pindar's (whose wedding we attended two years ago) had their first child this September.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, a friend of mine from college died of meningitis in May.
5. What countries did you visit?
Not counting England, this year I visited France twice, America twice, Poland once and the Czech Republic once. This has been a good year for travelling!
6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?
A house (as opposed to renting), financial security.
7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
April 1st (no, not kidding), as my company merged with the new one that day.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Making myself indispensable at the New Company.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Letting BC get away with as much crap as I have.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yes, I had emergency oral surgery in September.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A pair of tickets to Prague as a surprise for Pindar's 30th birthday.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My boss, who made sure that my job was secure, and that everyone being transfered over was suitably protected during the merger.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
BC, but you all knew that one!
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent and bills.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
When, at the end of October, I had my January holiday time authorised, and I was able to afford/find availability to come over to California. I am absolutely thrilled that I'm coming over in less than a week!
16. What song will always remind you of 2003?
In Da Club, because this summer it was on the radio roughly every ten minutes. I still like it, though.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? About the same.
iii. richer or poorer? Higher income, but I have more debt. I'm hoping to clear it over the next year.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Getting out and doing something outside of the house.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Argue.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With my parents-in-law, looking after Pindar's mom.
22. Did you fall in love in 2003?
I was already in love with Pindar, but over the year he's done lots of little things that endear him to me even more.
23. How many one-night stands?
None.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
CSI and West Wing.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No, I can't think of anyone. I do hate those damn pigeons, though, and last year I was more or less indifferent.
26. What was the best book you read?
I finally caught up with the rest of the world and read the entire Harry Potter series this summer.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
How to download songs. Heh heh...
28. What did you want and get?
To travel to Paris and Prague, which have been on my list for a long time!
29. What did you want and not get?
I've reached the age where I've started to think about having children. I didn't have any. (Don't panic, Pindar.)
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Pirates of the Caribbean.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I had to work. I brought cake into my office for everyone, then went to choral rehearsal afterwards. I was 28.
32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Seeing all the crap BC pulls recognized by the New Company and stopped.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?
Finally discovering what is flattering on me, and following those rules with every new thing I buy! Also discovering a store that sells clothing for tall women!
34. What kept you sane?
Pindar.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Orlando Bloom as Legolas. Yum.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Virtually anything to do with the current Labour government. There are too many from this year to list here.
37. Who did you miss?
All of my friends from Faire, until I found them on LJ!
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Apart from all of my new colleagues, and everyone on LJ, I didn't meet a lot of new people this year. However, I reconnected with a lot of old friends.
And the year isn't over yet!
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003.
Not to worry too much about what's going to happen.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I can't think of one at the moment.

Date: 2003-12-24 01:54 am (UTC)By the way, where's the html lines to this? Or did you copy-paste? I should try some introspection. After I get over my jetlag - I just got back last night, to my home (my nationality home) from my spiritual/emotional home (that would be LA). And working on my parents' Windows machine sure is a lot different from my Mac - even the keyboards are different (this is the JIS, Japanese keyboard - I think I told you before that this even has the yen sign key!)
A happy new year to you, too, but before that, Merry X-mas!
